You couldn’t imagine three more different films going head to head for Best Picture at the Oscars, but ultimately Spotlight won bragging rights at the 2016 Academy Awards.

In accepting the award, one of the producers noted that this film gave a voice to survivors,of the pedophile priest story and that, Pope Francis, it’s time to protect children and restore the faith. Wow, pretty powerful stuff. Another producer added that they had a perfectly calibrated ensemble with their amazing cast. We couldn’t agree more, this terrific group of actors had a really hard story to tell and did it with such power and passion.

Spotlight was a top selection among many critics throughout awards season, with the amazing ensemble of actors playing a team of Boston Globe reporters who uncover the Catholic priest molestation scandal. The cast led by Michael Keaton, 64, was so compelling in portraying the sad but true story, and the film already won best drama at the Golden Globes.
The film’s title comes from the team of reporters who dig tirelessly to find the truth behind the pedophile scandal and its cover up. The film took home Best Ensemble for it’s cast at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Jan. 20, with Michael, Liev Schreiber, 48, and Oscar nominees Rachel McAdams, 37, and Mark Ruffalo, 48, all giving astonishing performances.
